Inspired by the winemaking tradition of piquette, Vague Recollection is a farmhouse ale aged on the grape pomace from the 2021 harvest. 2021 was our second season of winemaking. We worked with Blanc du Bois, Syrah, Merlot, and Black Spanish grapes. After pressing the skins, we racked young farmhouse ale onto the pomace. After a few months of aging, we racked the beer off of the pomace and naturally conditioned the beer. The result is an elegant, complex, nuanced flavor profile that captures elements from both beer and wine. While by no means a fruit bomb, this batch is very drinkable and delicious.
