India Pale Ale

IPAs have been at the forefront of the craft beer revolution around the world. In the late 1700s Hodgson Brewery in London made the “October Ale”, a heavily hopped strong pale ale to survive six-month journey from Britain to India. In the mid-1970s, the IPA revolution was again started, this time by America. Initially this began on the West Coast, where IPAs were packed full of hops and higher in alcohol. More recently, the East Coast took off with the rise of the NEIPA.
