Belgian Styles
Brewing in Belgium dates back to as early as the 9th century AD when monks brewed beer to gain self-sufficiency. Traditionally, Belgian beers range in colour, brewing methods and alcohol levels. These days, most Belgian beers fall under the sub-categories of Lambic (find in Sour style), Flanders Red (also in Sours), Blonde, Dubbel (or Brune), Tripel, Quadrupel and Saison/Farmhouse.
