This is Luca Maroni’s 99 point Primativo. It’s the equal highest rated wine in his tastings this year. For those new to Luca Maroni, he’s one of Italy’s most renowned wine critics – Italy’s James Halliday or Jeremy Oliver if you like and this is one of his highest ever rated wines. This primitivo is produced in Puglia, the heel of the Italian boot and it delivers a rich, dense & powerful wine. Many would remember the Amaranta Montepulciano, which also received 99 points, this is more refined, has more interest, yet comes loaded with that slurpable juicy fruit everyone enjoyed so much, it was like a little bit of Italian sunshine in a glass.
